My mandarin teaching method

I have been giving Chinese lessons in my free time for almost 10 years. I became a dedicated Mandarin tutor for four years around Worcester and currently working in a private school in Hereford.

I am easygoing with a sense of humour; my students always enjoy the examples I give them and the stories behind the language. I believe this helps them better understand and find it fun to learn the language.

Having been dedicated to language and music education, developing and implementing creative and hands-on curricula according to students' proficiency for four years, I have proven that I am a trustworthy individual who demonstrates patience and an approachable manner with practical ideas to meet students' goals.

I want to integrate second language learning theories with practical ideas and implement them in actual classroom situations and private tuition.

Tailor the teaching to individual student's needs and level
1. Toddlers (flexible curriculum)
Want to energise your children with the most inspiring teacher of Mandarin to start their day? Immerse your children into fun games, and engaging tasks customised explicitly for early ages along with the development of their cognition. They will learn greetings, numbers, colours, animals, food, songs, chants, Chinese crafts, etc. Absolute beginners are welcome.

2. Primary school students, secondary and students preparing for GCSE Chinese exam (flexible curriculum)
You will efficiently learn how to expand your vocabulary through my method and apply it to communicative grammar games to increase your confidence in the GCSE Chinese exam. We can also put more energy into the areas you would like to reinforce (listening, speaking, reading and writing). It is a highly customised course.

3. Business / Professional / A-Level

Advanced beginner to intermediate (12-week curriculum, at least 1.5 hours per week): This course prepares you to speak and use business Mandarin in your work field confidently. It is designed for professionals planning to visit China/ Taiwan for business purposes. You will learn formal greetings, essential communication skills as well as Chinese business culture, which allow you to communicate successfully in the business environment. Leaners with level 4 in HSK (CEFR A2) or above are encouraged for this course.

Intermediate to advanced (12-week curriculum, at least 1.5 hours per week): The course gives you a more in-depth perspective related to business Mandarin. My teaching style is relaxed, fun and easy to follow; I believe learning a new language needs lots of encouragement from the teacher or tutor to make it a fun experience. I put the language into daily life conversation to help students practise; language needs to be listened to and spoken.
